A goodnews is always welcome on a gloomy day. Not exactly gloomy but yeah, we are admist the global Covid-19pandemic and the civilization as such has taken the covid-19 in its stride and learning to live with it. The bright side is, Salvatore just announced the launch of Leonardo cuspide limited edition fountain pen.

We are a few lucky ones to have a look at this first hand. Trust me the first look at it and I personally fell in love with the design and detailing on the pen.

With a vintage taste, shapes, and details that recall the masterpieces of the 30s, golden years for the Italian fountain pen known throughout the world. The filling system (classic piston), the ebonite feeder, the clip, the band, and also the position of the thin metal rings on the cap bring us back in time.

Launching in 4 different colors, limited to 70 pieces for each nuance.

The material is inspired by the “Lance Cusp” used by ancient warriors in the centuries VII-VI BC.
In fact, the pattern present in acrylic in the darker parts recalls the curve of the spear tip.

The realization of the resin “Cuspide” is an important step to the research and production and is also stimulating for future projects. The effect of depth and texture is given by the assembly of about 10/15 sheets of acrylic, the fusion of these sheets about 1 or 2mm high is obtained through a casting of dark resin that will become our cusp only after a complex oblique cut of the sheet.

The decoration on the central band Like the previous collection “Speranza” there is the geometric pattern that will be shown on the limited collections only and for the whole year 2020, for next year and the following ones, the design will be different.
The decoration is reminiscent of the period known in the history of art as “Geometric Art” and therefore means the production of decorations of Greek civilization between 900 and 700 BC, which takes its name from the term traditionally used for ceramic production of the same period.

The fountain pen is supplied with a 40ml bottle of blue ink and a lifetime warranty on any manufacturing defect.

The new Scrikks 419 Classic Piston filler fountain pen is an authentic writing instrument. a limited edition remake of the legendary Scrikss 419 first produced in the early 1970s. The 419 legendary looks very much like a pen from the past but with modern finishes. The glossy resin and lustrous gold plated fittings add a lot of glamour to the Scrikss’ 419 fountain pen. It full fills all the advantages of a traditional pen, namely: Screw Cap, the ink level window, the art deco-inspired clip, and the piston mechanism fitted into the barrel of the pen. The Review

The first impression of holding the pen is it is very light in nature, which can be attributed to the resin body. It is slender in shape and would fit well into hands that have small palms or just say the regular size. From the size of the pen, it surely feels to be liked by Asian pen connoisseurs as their hands are much smaller compared to their European or American counterparts.

The Writing

The pen is seemingly well balanced once the cap is posted at the back. The nib is a nice steel finish with gold plating for the glamorous vintage look.

I happen to test the Medium nib pen with a Sheaffer Skrip blue ink. The paper pad used was a maplitho 80 Gsm. The Scrikss 419 classic piston filler fountain pen is ready to glide on paper. The writing experience is pretty smooth with great control over the flow. Even for the first use, I didn’t find any feedback or the nib skipping ink. The consistent ink flowing from the nib is my key indicator on the health of a good nib and feed system.

One of the most followed icons in India, posted this on Instagram today. Wow!! Not just because he is an icon whom most of India follows but also because he has pressed upon the revival of one of the most important elements of human evolution.

Bring back handwriting is a great slogan to work on. Inspiring and motivating. Makoba has been on this mission since 2009 and it’s a never-ending quest. The march will go on and on and on. So far enabled about a quarter of a million people to write with pens.

Writing has been a form of expressing ideas, dreams and emotions ever since human form started taking shape. From early writing in the form of cave drawings, depicting the sceneries and surroundings using a sharp edged stone, to the current form of modern writing instruments. Purpose of writing has not changed, but the medium has.

Above pics are from our family trip to Wayanad. Edakkal Caves is an interesting visit. It actually throws you back in time. This place is quite high on the hill and the top gives an amazing breathtaking view of the landscape. When you walk around the inner caves, you can actualy sense how the eary cave people would have lived in constant threat of being attacked. The walls depict their lifestyle. There are images of the supreme leader of the group among other depictions like the rising sun, A child on his mothers lap. A four legged creature which could be a wolf or a wild dog. My personal opinion, a must visit if you are going to Wayanad.

Now lets get back to where we are and whats this topic about. Its about writing and the modern instruments we use. We all write and its an involuntary action. But whats important is how to write right. The writing instrument doesnt matter. What matters is how you put it to use. Shortly we will share an sights on how to write right and the tips and tricks.

Lets write to create a lasting impression.

My tribute to Doctors on Doctors Day

It isn’t enough to write about Doctors at length
To save human lives only they have the strength,
Seeing so much suffering is in itself a huge test
Fighting against diseases without thinking of rest,
The disease may be contagious, but they are not afraid
They serve the patient round the clock, it has to be said,
During Covid they put their lives in danger, you may find it odd
On earth, only these Supermen can be compared to God,
It seems they have an abundance of compassion in their heart
Let us Congratulate them on Doctors Day and do our little part.
